It's meant more of a symbolic piece than anything, like its predecessor. It's not intended to make direct sense, but if you realize that it's an interpretation of overcoming and understanding one's weaknesses and bad side, it'll make sense.

I can understand your confusion though; it's really something that's meant to have a much deeper meaning than what's shown, and it can be hard to see past the literal meaning.
